In short: every SKINNYZ chair carries a 10-year warranty covering the frame, the welds and the materials. Keep your order number, send us one email, and we handle the rest.
Your 10-Year Warranty at a Glance
Every SKINNYZ folding chair is backed by a 10-year warranty from the date of purchase. It is not a marketing line: it is a written commitment that the chair you bought will keep doing its job for a decade of normal use.
A 10-year warranty is rare in the folding chair industry, where one or two years is the norm. We offer it because our chairs are engineered and tested far beyond the demands of everyday seating — reinforced steel, controlled welds and materials chosen to hold their shape after thousands of folds. When you buy SKINNYZ, you are buying a chair designed to stay, not a chair designed for the landfill.
What the Warranty Covers
Frame integrity
The steel frame is guaranteed against structural failure, bending and breakage under normal use for ten years. That includes the folding mechanism, the hinge points and the joints that carry the load when someone sits down.
Welding defects
Every weld in a SKINNYZ chair is guaranteed against separation and cracking. Welds are the weakest point of almost every folding chair on the market, which is why we inspect them individually instead of sampling a batch.
Material failures
The seat, the backrest and the structural components are guaranteed against manufacturing defects — anything that fails because of how the chair was made rather than how it was used.
What Is Not Covered
We would rather be clear about the limits than let you discover them later. The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear — scuffs, softening of the seat surface and the small marks that come with years of daily use.
- Accidental damage and misuse — damage from drops, standing on the chair, exceeding the 150 kg load rating, or using a chair as a step or a ladder.
- Improper storage — leaving a chair outdoors in rain, salt air or extreme heat for long periods.
- Cosmetic changes — scratches, fading or discolouration caused by prolonged direct sunlight.
- Commercial, rental or institutional use — the warranty is written for residential use. If you run a venue, a café or a rental fleet, contact us and we will discuss terms that fit how you use our products.
- Unauthorised modification — repairs or alterations carried out by a third party.
None of the above affects your statutory consumer rights. The warranty sits on top of the protection you already have by law; it does not replace it or shorten it.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
Step 1 — Contact us
Email info@skinnyz.net with your order number and a short description of the problem. If you ordered through a retailer or a marketplace, tell us where and when, and we will find your order.
Step 2 — Send photos
Two or three photos of the issue, plus one photo of the whole chair, are usually enough for us to assess a claim without any back-and-forth. A short video helps for anything that moves — a hinge that creaks, a mechanism that sticks.
Step 3 — Receive your resolution
We will confirm the outcome by email. Depending on the fault, we repair the chair, send a replacement part, replace the chair or refund it. Most claims are resolved within 5 to 10 business days of the photos reaching us.
How Long a Claim Takes
Straightforward claims — a cracked weld, a frame that will not fold — are usually assessed within one business day of receiving your photos. Claims that need a replacement part shipped may take a little longer, and we will tell you the timeline when we confirm the resolution.
Does the Warranty Transfer?
Yes. If you give a SKINNYZ chair to a friend or a family member, the remaining warranty goes with it. Send us the order number when the new owner needs to make a claim and we will take care of them directly.
Getting the Most Out of Your Chairs
A few habits keep folding chairs in good condition for years:
- Wipe the frame with a soft, damp cloth rather than an abrasive cleaner.
- Fold and unfold the chair by holding the seat, not by pulling one leg.
- Store chairs indoors, or in a covered space, when they are not in use.
- Stack folded chairs upright so the frame is not under sideways pressure.
Questions We Are Asked Most
I bought my chair on Amazon or through a retailer — am I covered?
Yes. The 10-year warranty applies to the product, not to the sales channel. Contact us with whatever order reference you have and we will trace it.
What if I have lost my receipt?
You are still covered. Give us the name the order was placed under and an approximate date, and we will search our records. If we cannot find the order, we will still help — our aim is to get a faulty chair sorted out, not to find a reason to decline it.
Do I need to ship the chair back before you decide?
For most claims, no. Photos are usually enough. If a return is needed, we will cover the shipping for a fault covered by the warranty.
What happens after ten years?
We still want to hear from you. Chairs that fail outside the warranty period can often be repaired, and where they cannot we will offer a fair solution.
What Counts as Normal Use
Our warranty is written for the way people actually use folding chairs, so it helps to be specific about what normal use means for a SKINNYZ chair:
- Seating one person up to 150 kg. Every frame is load-tested to that rating. Two adults on one chair, or an adult plus a heavy bag, sits outside the design.
- Folding and unfolding by hand. The mechanism is built for thousands of cycles — the hinge is rated well beyond a decade of daily folding.
- Indoor and covered outdoor use. A balcony or a covered terrace is fine. A chair left in the rain, in salt air or in direct summer sun for months is not.
- Occasional transport. Folding the chair flat and carrying it to an event, a class or a neighbour's dinner is exactly what it was designed for.
If your use case sits outside this list — a restaurant floor, a rental fleet, an event venue — talk to us before you buy. We would rather advise you up front than have you discover a limit later.
Why the Warranty Is Written This Way
Warranties in this industry are usually short because the product is expected to fail. Ours is long because the failure points have been engineered out: reinforced steel instead of thin tubular aluminium, welds inspected one by one rather than sampled, and a hinge tested far past its rated cycles.
The exclusions are deliberately narrow. They describe damage, not disappointment. If a chair fails while someone is simply sitting on it, that is our problem to solve — and a ten-year commitment is our way of saying so in writing.
