The 46 cm width must be free of hinges and hardware — a nominal cabinet of that size can be too narrow once the opening is measured.
The recommended depth includes practical clearance for inserting and removing the chairs. Chair stack depth alone is about 19 cm.

How the numbers work
A trolley holds up to 12 chairs and measures 63 × 46 × 101 cm, with the chairs already loaded included in that height. For more than 12 chairs we calculate how many trolleys you need and add up their width when placed side by side.
A hanging hook holds up to 6 folded chairs and takes 45 × 23 × 90 cm, the 90 cm giving clearance above the 87 cm folded chair. Its depth stays at 23 cm whatever the number of chairs.
A cabinet needs at least 46 cm of clear width and 90 cm of clear height, free of hinges, and a depth that grows with the stack. With fewer than 6 chairs the depth is the folded stack itself: about 5.5 cm for one chair, 2.7 cm more for each extra one. From 6 chairs up we use the official depths, which include room to angle the chairs and pull them in and out: 23 cm for 6 chairs, 42 cm for 12 and 60 cm for 20.
